Support Education, Conservation and Recreation

The Oklahoma Zoological Society was created to support and promote the Oklahoma City Zoological Park and its programs in education, conservation, zoological research and recreation. There are several ways for you to help!

Commitment to Care

The Commitment to Care campaign will provide the necessary funds to build a new state-of-the-art veterinary hospital at the Oklahoma City Zoo. By making a donation to the Commitment to Care campaign you are helping to provide the funding necessary to keep your Zoo one of the best in the nation and demonstrating your Commitment to Care.

ZooFUNd for Kids

Give to the fund that provides educational opportunities at the Zoo for underprivileged children who would not otherwise be able to afford them. OZS wants to ensure that any person, regardless of ability to pay, is given the opportunity to have an exciting and memorable conservation education experience. Twice a year, OZS awards grants to schools and organizations to help defray the cost of Oklahoma City Zoo education classes and activities. ZooFUNd for Kids has reached more than 380,000 participants since its inception in 1997.

Species Survival Plan

The Zoo works with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and other wildlife institutions to participate in Species Survival Plans (SSP). SSPs are a collective effort from these institutions to ensure the survivability of species from around the world. Through breeding programs and population management, SSPs seek to establish healthy, self-sustaining animal populations that are genetically diverse and demographically stable. Currently the Oklahoma City Zoo is working with 54 endangered or threatened species and 45 SSPs.

Animal Adoptions

Become an active part of the Oklahoma City Zoo’s animal kingdom by becoming a Parent of the Wild. As a “parent” of the wild, you can adopt any animal of your choice with a donation of $30 or more. This program helps offset daily expenses of caring for the wide range of wild children that proudly call the Oklahoma City Zoo their home.

Bowling for Rhinos

Each year, the Zoo's chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) invites the public to hit the bowling lane during Bowling for Rhinos, an event that raises money for rhino conservation. Although a fun event, Bowling for Rhinos has a more important mission. Out of the 100 species of rhinos that formerly roamed the Earth, only five exist today, and all are considered endangered. Some of these species have fewer than 300 animals living, making extinction a real possibility unless conservation efforts can help turn the fate of these mammoth pachyderms. The Zoo's AAZK Chapter is one of more than 60 organizations in the United States and Canada that participates in Bowling for Rhinos annually. Net proceeds from Bowling for Rhinos benefits rhino conservation projects in Asia and Africa. With the help of the dedicated citizens of Oklahoma, the Zoo has raised over $200,000 for rhino conservation through this event, which is more than any organization! Bowling for Rhinos occurs during the summer each year.

Gorilla Golf

Gorilla Golf occurs each year to raise money for gorilla conservation. The net proceeds from Gorilla Golf benefit the Oklahoma City Zoo's support of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International. The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International is dedicated to the conservation and protection of gorillas and their habitats in Africa. It is committed to promoting continued research on gorillas and their threatened ecosystems and to providing education about their relevance to the world in which we live. In collaboration with government agencies and other international partners, the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund also provides assistance to local communities through education, health, training and development initiatives.

Planned Giving

Planned giving enables you to give gifts of assets that benefit your family now and in the future. These are gifts that enrich the Oklahoma City Zoo for many generations to come. Planned gifts include gifts through your will, charitable gift annuities, gifts of life insurance, pooled income funds and charitable trusts. Plus, planned gifts provide enhanced tax benefits and some return income to you, the donor.

We’ll gladly assist you in finding possibilities that best suit your situation, and we’ll make the process of giving simple by working with you and your advisors.
