2010 Ostrich Egg Breakfast
Ostrich Egg Breakfast will be held rain or shine!
Twenty-four years and still cookin’! The Oklahoma Zoological Society (OZS) ZooFriends and the Oklahoma City Zoo will host the annual Ostrich Egg Breakfast on Saturday, May 15 from 8 to 11:00 a.m.
Guests will enjoy an immense, all-you-can-eat spread that
includes scrambled hens’ eggs, the famous made-to-order ostrich egg
omelets,
pancakes, sausage, waffles, milk, juice, coffee and Krispy Kreme
doughnuts! The breakfast will be served by OZS board members,
volunteers
and gourmet chefs as a fund-raising event. More than 3,000 people are
expected
to attend this year’s breakfast.
In addition to a hearty breakfast, there will be entertainment provided by local musicians. Limited edition T-shirts are available for purchase, plus guests will enjoy a free Sea Lion show.
Then, stay and work off that breakfast by enjoying the Zoo’s Zoolympics celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. -perfect for children ages 11 and under. Roar like a lion, rhino ring toss and other fun, interactive activities make learning about animal behaviors, conservation, and health and fitness- fun! This event is free with regular Zoo admission.
Ostrich Egg Breakfast is sponsored by the Oklahoma Zoological Society with support from: BancFirst, Borden Milk Products, Great Plains Coca-Cola, Griffin Food Company, Krispy Kreme, Lopez Foods, Neighbors Coffee, Oklahoma Natural Gas, Perry Publishing and Broadcasting Company, Sonic, America’s Drive-In, Shawnee Milling Company and The Oklahoman.
The cost for ZooFriends members is $10 for adults and $5 for children; non-member prices are $12 for adults and $7 for Children. Children under 2 are admitted free. The ticket price includes Zoo admission, breakfast and a free sea lion show. T-shirts are $12 for adult sizes and $9 for youth sizes.
Proceeds from the breakfast will help the Oklahoma Zoological Society fund Zoo projects such as local and international conservation efforts, zoological research and educational materials. OZS is the non-profit organization created to support and promote the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden and its efforts in education, conservation, zoological research and recreation.
