Director of Development
Matt Burkholder has worked at the Oklahoma Zoological Society since 2017, gaining experience in fundraising, event management, donor relations and board development. As a seasoned Development Director, he is passionate about advancing the conservation mission of the Oklahoma City Zoo and connecting more donors to one of Oklahoma’s oldest landmarks. In addition to his primary job functions, Matt has been recognized by the Oklahoma City Gazette as a “Forty Under 40” recipient, one of the “50 Most Powerful Young Professionals” by the OKC Friday and is a current member of Leadership Oklahoma City’s Signature Class 39.
A lifelong Oklahoma City resident, Matt graduated from Casady School before obtaining his B.A. from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, where he played fullback for the football team. Always active within his community, he has served on multiple young professional organizations, and was a member of the Casady Alumni Board of Directors. Matt has also been a youth coach for both football and basketball.
Currently, Matt serves on the Leadership Council for the St. Crispin's Episcopal Summer Camp & Conference Center, is an active member of St. Augustine Episcopal Church and is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City’s LOYAL Class XII. Matt’s interests are Thunder basketball & St. Louis Cardinal baseball, watching movies and discovering which new show on Netflix to skip over just to watch “The Office” for the 9th time. Most of all though, he loves spending time with his four-year-old son, Ben.
